15u, 16u and 17u teams receive an invitation to the 2010 AAU Super
Showcase at Disney WWS Complex for the fourth
consecutive year.

FINISH 2ND IN BRONZE BRACKET AT AAU SUPER SHOWCASE
Congratulations to 15u Gold team on their medal and
runner-up finish in the Bronze bracket of the AAU 15u
Super Showcase held July 20-23 at the Disney WWS
Complex. The team completed the tournament with an
overall 5-3 record. Great job guys.

FINISH 3RD AT USBA NATIONALS
Congratulations to members of the 15u Black
and Gold teams which combined to make a deep run before
losing in the semis of the USBA National Championship in
Myrtle Beach, SC. The team finished 6-1 while
averaging double digit wins. Great job guys.

and 17s HAVE GOOD SHOWING AT HOOPGROUP WVA JAMFEST

WVa Hoopfest Update -
15s tied for first but were relegated to 3rd place in
Pool and consolation bracket due to point differential.
17s (DC) were 2.3 secs and 1 point away from a Silver
bracket appearance. Two missed FTs changed the entire
course of the tournament. Battled hard against DC
Assault and were within single digits late in the game,
only to run out of gas.

TEAM TAKES QUEEN CITY TITLE
Congratulations to members of the 15u Gold and Black
teams which combined to grab some additional hardware,
winning the championship of the "Queen City Classic".

For the 2nd year in a row, the Boys 15u Gold team goes
undefeated and claims the title and hardware from the
"Charlotte Nets Challenge" held in Charlotte, NC

Congratulations to the 15u Gold team for their 2nd place
finish in the USSSA D1 State Tournament in Greensboro,
NC. Team remained unbeaten before falling to the
AAU D1 State champs in the title game.

playing "up" in the 17u division of the Reebok
"One-n-Done" tournament in Charlotte.

TEAM ADVANCES TO AAU D-1 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND
Congratulations to the 16u Gold team which finished 2-1
in Pool Play and advances to the D1 State Championship
tournament in Mt. Airy following an overall 9th place
finish in the 17u D2 State tournament.

PLACES 4 TEAMS IN HIGH SCHOOL DIVISION IN AAU NATIONALS
Congratulations to the 15u Gold (7th-D1), 16s
(9th-17uD2), 17u Gold (8th-D1)and Black
(8th-D2) teams for qualifying for AAU Nationals.
Each team finished in the top 10 in the State tournament
with the 16s playing up in the 17u D2 division.

GOLD TEAM FINISHES IN ELITE 8 IN NCAAU D-1 STATE
CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNEY
After a slow start in Pool Play last week, the 17u Gold
team rallied to make it to the Elite 8 of the AAU D1 17u
State Championship tourney, losing in OT to prevent a
possible Top 5 finish. They were joined in the
State Championship round by the 17u Black and 16u Gold
teams which advanced to 17u D2 States and the 15u and
13u Gold teams which also advanced to their state
tournaments respectively.

BLACK TEAM CAPTURES USSSA SPRING SHOOTOUT TITLE
Congratulations to the Boys 13u Black team for claiming
1st place in the USSSA Spring Shootout. It was
their first tournament of the season and first piece of
hardware. Way to go guys!

15u Gold, 16u Gold, 17u Black and 17u Gold teams all
advance out of AAU Pool Play to content for a state
title. The 15u Gold and 17u Gold teams advance in
D1, the 17u Black team in D2, accompanied by the 16u
Gold team which played "up" and qualified for 17u D2 as
well.

PURPLE TEAM TAKES 2ND IN CAROLINA RISE CLASSIC
Congratulations to the Boys 17u Purple team for the
runner-up finish in the championship of the USBA
Carolina Rise Classic.

AND 15U TRAVEL TEAMS PLAY WELL AT RIVERFEST CLASSIC
Congratulations to the Boys 17u and 15u Gold teams for
their weekend performance at the 12th annual Riverfest
Classic in Columbus, Ga. The 17u team finished 2nd
in their pool and made it to the quarter-finals, falling
to eventual champion Ga Stars. The 15s won their
pool by going undefeated, but fell short in the
semi-finals.

GOLD AND 14U BLACK TEAMS TAKE 2ND AND 3RD RESPECTIVELY
IN COMFORT SUITES INVITATIONAL
In the
first tourney for both teams this season, the 13u Gold
and 14u Black teams place in the Comfort Suites
Invitational in Gastonia, NC and brought home some
additional hardware.

15U TEAMS START SEASON ON WINNING NOTE
Congratulations to the Boys 15u Gold and Black teams for
taking 1st and 2nd place respectively in weekend
tourneys. The Gold team went undefeated playing up in the
16u division of the USSSA March Madness tournament with the Black team taking
2nd place in the USBA Carolina Courts Invitational.

RATINGS RELEASED
33
players were tested during the NIKE SPARQ certification
during tryouts. Congratulations to 17u Purple team
member Jeff Felton leading the pack with a 69.08
score and 16u Guard Brandon Glenn finishing
second with 62.40. Jeff blew away the field with a
33.50 vertical.
SPARQ stands for Speed, Power, Agility,
Reaction and Quickness, five of the
essential tools for superior athletic performance.
SPARQ Training is the dynamic training method that
incorporates the five testing components of the SPARQ
Basketball Rating. The SPARQ Rating is a numeric
value that gauges overall athletic ability and is used
by coaches and trainers around the nation as an initial
indicator of an athlete's potential on the court.
LITTLE BROTHERS AWARDED AUTOMATIC BID TO AAU
NATIONALS
Based
on the Club's 2008 Nationals performance, AAU as
extended an automatic bid
to the 2009 D2 National Championship in Cocoa Beach, FL.
2nd year in a row the Club has medaled at AAU Nationals.
BIG BROTHERS ALSO INVITED TO ELITE AAU EVENT

and 16u Boys were extended a bid to 2009 AAU Super
Showcase event at Disney WWS Complex in July and will
join the 15u team in this event. Bid marks 3rd
year in a row Club has received an invitation.

Alexander Wiley
(Clover) was named to the 4A All-State team by the South
Carolina Coaches Association. He also played in the
South Carolina North-South senior all-star basketball
game, lead his team to the state semi-finals
and was named to the all 3-AAAA region team.
Dillion Dunford (Smoky Mountain) was named to the
Western Athletic 2-A all conference team while Colton
Hunt (Smoky Mountain) was named Western Athletic 2-A
conference player of the year.

AAU Super Showcase team member Odell Turner (Myers Park) was named Southwestern 4A Conference Player
of the Year. Congratulations Odell.

17u SG Thomas Cooper (Mallard Creek) and
2008 17u SF Quay Fewell (West Charlotte) were
named to the 2008-09 ME-CA 7 4-A All-Conference team.
Cooper was also a 2nd team choice for the ME-CA 7 4-A
all-conference team by the
Charlotte Observer.
East Lincoln star signs with UNC-Wilmington
Storm
16u and 17u player Keith Rendleman signed with the
Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington to play in the Colonial
Athletic Association (CAA) next season. Good luck

17u and 15u Travel teams visit Gardner-Webb
Storm
players take another college trip to the Runnin'
Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb, visiting the team facilities,
locker room, film room and to see the Dogs in action.
Players were treated by Coach Esleeck to a highlight film of GW's
victory last season over Kentucky in Rupp Arena.
  
  
Elite Players attend Presbyterian game
As
part of the Club's dedication to preparing its players
for the next level, Storm team members and coaching
staff were invited to attend game at Presbyterian
College, a newly established D-1 basketball program to
see the full spectrum of the college "ballers"
experience.
  
Storm Elite Players visit UGa Campus
17u
and 15u Exposure Team members and coaching staff invited to
University of Georgia for unofficial visit, tour of $30 Million
dollar training facility and to watch a game. Storm
players met with UGa coaches and heard presentation on
requirements of big time Division 1 basketball from the 2008 SEC
