Congratulations to 2005 17u Boys player Jamaal Lopez-Hurt on being added to the Simon's Rock College Men's Basketball team roster.

11/16/2005 - New "Lady Storm" players Lindsay Greene and Amanda Leigh sign National Letters of Intent
Congratulations to the Sun Valley H.S. teammates for signing with Florida Tech and Winthrop University respectively.   Lindsay and Amanda will be playing for the 19u Lady Storm during the upcoming 2006 season.
11/4/2005 - Former Storm player Zack Cook joins Louisburg College roster 

Congratulations to 2005 17u Boys player and Butler H.S. graduate Zack Cook on being added to the Louisburg College Men's Basketball team roster, a NJCAA D-1 school in Louisburg, NC.

10/25/2005 - "Storm nights" at the new Bobcats arena The Club, in connection with the NBA Charlotte Bobcats, will be hosting nights for players to purchase tickets at discounted rates.   Featured games will be against the Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, LA Lakers, New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers.  Read more and order tickets today!
10/6/2005 - Storm player Jonathan McLean featured in YBOA Promotional Video

YBOA releases promotion video from the 2005 National Championship tournament in which the Boys 9u team participated.   Look for Jonathan receiving his "all-academic" team award and parent Jackie Jameson's dancing performance, with a brief appearance by Coach Clarence McLean Watch the video. 

9/24/2005 - Club celebrates season achievements at 2nd annual awards banquet. 

Boys 16u USSSA National Champs, Boys 11u YBOA State Champs and "All-Academic" team recipients were honored.

 

9/15/2005 - 3  Storm Players named to USSSA National "All-Tournament" team

Zack Garst, Kiaz Magwood and Boen Weanquoi take "all-tournament" honors in the 16u age bracket in the USSSA National Championship featuring the country's top ranked prep star, 7 footer Greg Oden.  Read more.

NATIONAL CHAMPS !!!

2005 Nationals Update

16u Boys overcome winless pool play by going undefeated in Bracket play to capture the 2005 USSSA D2 National Championship at Spiece Fieldhouse in Ft. Wayne, IN.  This is the first National Title for the organization in its short two year history.  Michael Jefferson (#23 above) finished 5th in the National 3-Point contest.  Tournament featured the country's top ranked prep star, 7 footer Greg Oden.

9u Boys (picture below) secure a 10th place finish at the YBOA Nationals and also take the "All-Academic" team award for the age division.  Jonathon McLean was named to the national "All-Academic" team, along with Michael Dorsainvil, who also made the "All Tournament" team.  Lamar Briggs took home 2nd in the National Free Throw competition.

11u Gold Boys (picture below) finished with a 4-3 tournament record and made it to the quarter finals of the "Classic" bracket in the AAU D1 National Championship tournament in Cocoa Beach, FL.  The team finished the year with a 31-6 overall record.

Boys 11u Black, 13u Gold and 14u Gold teams completed the strong showing for the Club at the USSSA National Tournament in Ft. Wayne, IN.

6/20/2005 - Boys 14u Gold team takes 2nd in the Charlotte Monarchs "Win or Go Home - Part 1"  tournament in Charlotte.

6/18/2005 - Clean sweep in Greensboro

Boys 13u Purple take "NCBA One-Day Shootout" championship.  Richard Brown and Justin Drabot also win the "Free Throw" and "3-Point" Championships respectively!

6/5/2005 - More "hardware" collected!

Boys 13u Black and 17u teams take 2nd place in the "Western National Warm-Up" tournament.

5/30/2005 - Girls 16u get USSSA State Title and National Bid

The Club's national bids for 2005 were extended to 15 with the effort of the Girls 16u team, which won the USSSA 16/17 State Championship.  Great job ladies!

5/25/2005 - 2005 National Bids now at fourteen (14)!

The Boys 9u team was extended a bid to participate in the YBOA National Championship Tournament in Lakeland, FL.  This is their 2nd national bid following a 6th place finish in the AAU D1 District Tournament.  Club total now at twenty (20) bids in just 2 years!

5/23/2005 - 2005 "All-Academic" Team

The UCBA Board is now accepting nominations for the 2005 Storm "all academic" team. Submissions must be made through your team's head coach and backed up by a copy of the final report card of the year.

Players selected must be on the final "A/B" honor for the year (no "C's" for end of course grades) for elementary and middle school ballers or at least a 3.0 or higher GPA for high school ballers.

5/23/2005 - "STORM" HEADED FOR INDIANA!

10 bids were awarded to the organization for the USSSA National Championship tournament in Ft. Wayne, IN.  Thirteen (13) total bids awarded to organization for 2005 season, including AAU and YBOA.

5/15/2005 - "STORM" TAKE TWO!

Boys 11u Black and 10u teams take the "Gastonia State Warm-Up" Championship, the first multiple title in a single tournament for the organization!  Boys 17u capture 2nd.

Boys 12u team finishes 2nd in the Charlotte Royals "Royal Rumble" tournament.

5/7/2005 - Boys 15u team takes 2nd in the "WNC State Warm-Up" tournament in Hickory, NC.

 

5/1/2005 - STATE CHAMPS !!! 

Boys 11u Gold team goes undefeated and take the NCYBOA crown First State Title for the team and organization in only 2nd year of play.  Great job guys!!!

4/24/2005 - Girls 16u team finishes 3rd in "Test of the West" AAU Tournament.
4/17/2005 - BIG WEEKEND FOR THE "STORM" ! 
  • Boys 12u team goes undefeated and takes the USSSA "Charlotte Storm Invitational" championship!  Boys 14u Gold and 10u teams secure 2nd place.
  • Boys 11u Gold team finishes 4th in AAU D1 NC District (State) Championship and advance to Nationals as one of the top seeds in the state. 
  • Boys 9u team goes 4-1 at the YBOA Western Regional and takes 5th place.  Joins Girls 14u team in advancing to State Championship tournament.

4/3/2005 - Boys 11u Gold team sweeps YBOA Western Regional and take championship.  Advance to State Tournament as the top seed.
4/3/2005 - Boys 9u and 13u Gold teams advance in Pool play and chase AAU National bids with appearance in District Championship tourney.  
4/3/2005 - Boys 11u Gold team goes undefeated in AAU D1 Pool Play, dispatching the defending State Champions NC Gaters along the way.
3/26/2005 - Boys 11u Black and 10u teams finish 2nd in Cougar's Easter Classic Tournament. 

3/13/2005 - Boys 17u finish 2nd in Sundrop Tournament, their first event of the season.
3/13/2005 - Boys 11u Gold punch ticket for Cocoa Beach, FL and the AAU D1 National Championship tournament by securing a bid in the N. Augusta Super Regional.

3/6/2005 - Boys 11u Gold sweep the competition and extend win streak to 12-0 defending the home turf and taking the YBOA "Charlotte Storm Invitational" Championship. 

Boys 10u team goes 3-1 to finish 2nd in their first tournament of the season.  9u team also finishes second.

2/20/2005 - The Club to host the first YBOA event of the season -  "The Charlotte Storm Invitational", March 4-6 for Boys 9-12u.  Read more and view schedule.
2/20/2005 - Boys 9u finish 3rd in the "Furniture City Shootout"; their first tournament of the year.

2/20/2005 - Boys 11u Gold take "Sundrop Shootout" Championship and extend record to 7-0.

2/13/2005 - Boys 11u Gold go undefeated and take 1st place in the Carolina Hoyas "Hoop It Up" tournament.
