9/4/2006 - Storm places 4 on USSSA National All-Tournament Team
Congratulations to Boys 14u Gold team members Edwin Burch, Keith Marvels, Clay McLean and John Saxton for being named to the All-Tournament Team from the 2006 USSSA National Championships held July 24th-30th in Ft. Wayne, IN, .   Club has placed 8 players on the USSSA National All-Tournament team in last 2 years.
8/18/2006 - 3rd Annual Awards Banquet
The Club will be holding its 3rd annual awards banquet at the University Hilton on September 16th from 6-9pm.  All-Academic and State and National Championship teams will be honored.  Reservations deadline is September 9th.   Download reservation form. 
8/11/2006 - 11u Boys recognized for USBA Title
Congratulations go out again to the Boys 11u Black team for the special recognition of their accomplishment received from U.S. Congresswoman Sue Myrick in winning the USBA national crown .   Read more (jpg)
7/31/2006 - 12u Boys finish 3rd in Nation

Nationals Update

YBOA Nationals, Orlando, FL - Congratulations to the Boys 12u Gold team for their 3rd place finish in the YBOA National Championship tournament.  The team's two year undefeated run in YBOA competition ended with a 7-1 tournament record and a 2 point loss to the defending national champion Hollywood Bucs in the semi-finals, who went on to also capture this year's title.  The season ended with a victory over the St. David Blues for 3rd place in the nation.   The team's strong performance was rewarded by an automatic bid to YBOA Nationals next year.   Great job guys!  Read more (pdf)

In individual honors, congratulations go out to Sean Anthony for being named to the "all-tournament" team, and to Victor Freeman and Jared Hamilton for being named "honorable mention" to the "Academic All-Tournament" team.   Read more (pdf)

In other results from Nationals, the Boys 14u Gold and 17u teams, and the Lady Storm 13u fell in the early rounds at the USSSA, AAU and USBA tournaments respectively.   The Lady Storm 13u team "played up" in the 14u division, with Lindsay Southam capturing the National Free Throw title! Congratulations to all three teams for reaching the tournament and expanding the presence of the Club on a national level.

6/25/2006 - NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!

USBA Nationals

Congratulations to the Boys 11u Black team for going undefeated in capturing the inaugural USBA National Championship in Myrtle Beach, SC.   This is their first National Title and 2nd for the organization in as many seasons.

Ten (10) Storm teams traveled to SC to compete in the first annual event with  97 total teams from the East Coast vying for the crown.  The Club's overall performance was highlighted by the National runner-up finishes of the Boys 11u Gold and 12u Gold teams, which lost by 2 points respectively in the Championship games, and with the Boys 12u Black team finishing 3rd.

The Club also collected individual hardware as National Free Throw and 3 Point Titles were awarded to the following players:

6/5/2006 - Twice as Nice!  Boys 9u and Girls 15u teams crowned USSSA State Champs

USSSA States Update

Congratulations to the Girls 15u and Boys 9u teams respectively for capturing the USSSA State Titles in Greensboro.  This is the 1st state crown for the Boys 9u team, 2nd this season for the 15u Girls after capturing the AAU D2 State championship, and the Club's 4th overall State Title in 2006.

The Club picked up another 9 National bids, highlighted by the Girls 13u team's 2nd place finish in the Championship game.   The Boys 12u Gold team secured a bid while "playing up" in the 13u D2 bracket.  Other teams securing bids were the Boys 10u, 12u Black, 13u Gold, 14u Gold and 16u.   In individual honors, Clay McLean of the Boys 14u Gold team won the State 3-point shooting contest.

5/29/2006 - New T-Shirt Designs Released

5/29/2006 - Lady Storm claim Silver Bracket Championship
Girls 13u travel to Asheville and claim their first piece of hardware of the season by winning the Silver Bracket championship in the YBOA "Great Smokies Shootout".
5/29/2006 - A Perfect Storm in Gastonia
Boys 11u Black and Gold teams meet in the "State Warm-Up" championship game in Gastonia, with the Black team successfully defending their title from last season.   This is the Black team's 2nd championship in three tournaments and 3rd piece of hardware overall. 

The Boys 16u team capture their first championship of the season also taking 1st place in the "State Warm-Up" tournament. 

The Boys 15u and 12u Purple teams fall short in the championship game and claim 2nd.

5/21/2006 - Ladies First - AAU D2 State Champs

Lady Storm 15u  sweep the competition, taking the AAU D2 State Championship and securing a bid to the AAU D2 National Championship at the Disney Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, FL.  This is the first AAU State Title for the team and for the organization.  Great job ladies in bringing home the hardware!  Read more.

5/8/2006 - Big weekend for the Storm
Lady Storm 15u  capture their first AAU D-1 bid by finishing 2nd in the AAU Summer Games in Charlotte and punch their ticket for the AAU D1 National Championship in Monroe, LA.  The ladies look to pick up another bid in the AAU D2 State Championship tournament later this month.

Boys 9u team picks up another national bid by taking 2nd place in the YBOA State Championship.  Pushes organization's 2006 haul to date to 10 bids to National Championship tournaments.
Boys 14u Black finish strong and secure 5th place in the YBOA State Championship and earn a bid to the 2006 YBOA National Championship in Orlando, FL.

Boys 14u Gold and 11u Gold teams both finish 8th in the state.
Boys 11u Black take 2nd place in the Mike Stuart Invitational in Gastonia, NC.  This is their second piece of hardware in as many tournaments. 
4/2/2006 - Back 2 Back YBOA State Champs
For the 2nd year in a row, the Boys 12u Gold team goes undefeated and captures the YBOA State crown, this year stopping the United Celtics in the championship game.  The team now sets sites for the YBOA national title in Orlando, FL.   The Boys 12u Black team also had a strong showing by finishing 7th in the State Tournament. 

4/24/2006 - Storm Boys look strong at YBOA Regionals

The Club had another strong showing at YBOA Regionals with the Boys 11u Gold team finishing 5th, the 14u Gold team taking 3rd and the 14u Black team capturing 6th, all qualifying for the YBOA State Championship.   They will be joined by the Boys 9u, 12u Gold, 12u Black, 12u Purple and 15u teams, placing 8 teams in the State Tournament.

4/24/2006 - Boys 11u Black keep title at home
Congratulations to the Boys 11u Black team for capturing the championship in their first tournament of the year and defending the home turf in the "Charlotte Storm Invitational". 

Boys 12u Purple team continues their strong play and take 2nd in our invitational, only their second tourney of the season.

4/2/2006 - Boys 12u Black take Lake Norman Invitational Championship
Congratulations to the Boys 12u Black team for their impressive play in winning the "Lake Norman Invitational" Championship and their 2nd tournament title in four (4) events this season. 

4/9/2006 - Boys 9u capture 4th place in AAU D1 District Championship
Congratulations to the Boys 9u team for finishing 4th place in the AAU D1 N.C. District Championship and qualifying for the National Championship tournament at the Disney Sport Complex in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

4/9/2006 - 12u Boys flex muscle at YBOA Regionals
Congratulations to the Boys 12u teams for finishing 1st, 6th and 9th place in the YBOA Western Regional in Forest City, NC.   The defending State Champion Gold team swept the competition and went undefeated to capture the Regional Championship, followed by the Black team which secured 6th place and the Purple team, which finished 9th in their first tournament of the season. 

All three teams advance to the YBOA State Championship tournament and look to qualify for Nationals in Orlando, FL.

4/2/2006 - Boys 10u take 2nd in Comfort Suites Tourney
Congratulations to the 10u boys team for finishing 2nd in the USSSA Comfort Suites Invitational in Gastonia, NC.  This is their first piece of hardware in only their 2nd tournament of the season.

3/12/2006 - Boys 12u Black continue to roll by taking the Morganton Spring Fling event
Congratulations again to the 12u Black team in taking the Championship in the Spring Fling tournament in Morganton, NC.   They have collected hardware in both their appearances this season.
3/20/2006 - Boys 17u Gold capture Fast Break tourney Championship
National Champs step up in class to D1 and extend unbeaten streak to 8 by taking first place in the "Fast Break" tournament in High Point, NC. 

3/12/2006 - Boys 12u Gold punch ticket for AAU D-1 Nationals in Newport News, VA
Congratulations to the 12u Gold team for finishing 2nd in the AAU Super Regional in   N. Augusta, SC and earning a bid to the AAU D-1 National Championship tournament.  The team finished 4-1 and defeated the Charlotte Royals twice in 2 days.

3/12/2006 - Boys 12u Black take 2nd in Lexington Invitational
Congratulations to the 12u Black team for their 2nd place finish in the Lexington Invitational in Lexington, SC, their first tournament of the season.

3/12/2006 - Boys 14u Black take 2nd in YBOA KickOff Classic
Congratulations to the 14u Black team for finishing 2nd in the YBOA Kickoff Classic in Morganton, NC, their first tournament of the season!
