The Charlotte Storm Basketball Club is run under the auspices of the University City Basketball Association, Inc., (UCBA) a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization with a footprint in the University City area of Charlotte, NC.   Founded and organized for the development of the "student-athlete", emphasis is placed on community service, scholarship, character development and athletic excellence through the promotion of competitive basketball for youths between the ages of 9 and 17.  Our goal is to recruit and attract the leading players in the area and compete at a national level, focusing on fundamental skills, quality instruction and student achievement.  In our inaugural 2004 season, 13 Boys teams and 4 Girls teams competed in tournament play, with 6 teams receiving bids to National Championship tournaments.

History

At the end of the 2003 AAU season, a small group of parents from different programs casually met and shared their experiences from the recent tournament season.  During their discussions it was realized that they shared a similar vision, to participate in a program that concentrated on player development while offering competitive opportunities within the local University City area of Charlotte, NC.  Consequently, the UCBA was born with the mission to find players not participating in other organized programs and also players needing more individualized instruction and specific skill development while at the same time balancing the needs of family involvement and academic excellence.  Since that time, additional individuals with the same goals and desires have joined the organization to offer high-level teaching, individual character development, promotion of community involvement and personal responsibilities for male and female student-athletes from ages 9 through 17.

Our goal is to be extremely competitive with all of our teams and to participate in all major sanctioning basketball organizations.  Each squad will compete in local and state-wide tournaments with our older teams traveling to neighboring states to challenge the best competition available.  The organization will sponsor training camps and recruit highly skilled, effective coaches to teach the game of basketball with the focus on preparing participants for the demands of college level competition.
